Read this before you trust a cell
- Unknown is not no. Retroid Pocket 5, Mini V2, Classic and G2, every AYN handheld and the Miyoo Mini Plus V2 have no ratings in our data. These are among the faster handhelds on the market, so a blank row is a gap in the sources.
- Ratings are provisional. For Anbernic and several other Linux handhelds the collector mapped scores from Retro Catalog and Held Games to four words: a score of 80 or more is great, 50 to 79 good, 25 to 49 playable, under 25 no. They were not taken from the Retro Handhelds spreadsheet, and Retro Game Corps pages did not load. Each device card on the handheld table links its rating source.
- One rating, one family. All H700 handhelds from Anbernic share the same row of ratings because they share the same chip. A different screen or RAM amount can still change how a game feels.
- Custom firmware and emulator settings move the numbers. A game that stutters on stock software can run on another OS. See custom firmware.
What the grid shows
Two clear groups appear. Linux handhelds on the Allwinner H700 (RG35XX family, RG34XX, RG40XX, Cube XX) are rated great for GB, GBA, NES, SNES and PS1, mostly great for N64, Dreamcast and NDS, good for PSP, and no for GameCube, PS2, Switch and 3DS. Android handhelds with the Unisoc T820 or MediaTek Dimensity 8300, plus the Retroid Pocket 6 and AYANEO Pocket Micro 2, are the ones rated for PS2. Switch ratings exist for few devices and top out at good in the current data. Which chip sits in which group is on the chip guide.
How to use the chart
Start from the console, not the brand. Find the column for the system you care about, then sort it by clicking the header: great sits at the top, unknown at the bottom. Then check the price on the handheld table and the source link on the card before you decide.
Filtered grids
PS2 and GameCube are the questions people ask most. This grid shows only handhelds with a PS2 rating of playable or better, next to GameCube, Switch and PSP.

Questions people ask
Why is there no rating for the Retroid Pocket 5?
Our sources describe the device but give no per-system scores we can map to our four words. We leave it blank. The Snapdragon 865 inside it is grouped in the mid tier on the chip guide, which is a hint and not a rating.
Can a handheld rated "no" run the system with custom firmware?
Ratings describe what the sources report on the device, not a hard limit. A chip that is too slow stays too slow, so "no" for PS2 on the H700 chip will not change with software.
Where do the ratings come from?
From the pages linked in each handheld's card: Retro Catalog, Held Games and Retro Handhelds. The method and its limits are on the methodology page.
