What the guides cover
The buying lists answer a single question each, such as the best handheld under $100 or the best one for PS2, and every pick links to its spec card and price source. The comparison pages put two or three handhelds side by side using the same data as the compare tool. The how-to guides cover what the lists assume you know: which chip runs which console, Linux against Android, custom firmware, SD cards, accessories and the legal way to get games and BIOS files onto a handheld.
Every price on the site names its source and date: the maker's official store for Anbernic and Powkiddy, a named third party for most others. Emulation ratings are provisional and unknown for many Android handhelds. Each guide repeats these limits where they matter.
Reading order for new buyers
Pick the console first, then the chip, then the shape, then the brand. Brands matter less than they seem: several Anbernic, Miyoo and TrimUI models share the same Allwinner chip and therefore the same emulation ceiling. The price gap between them is mostly screen, shape and build, and the guides say so with data.
How fresh is it
The data was last checked on 2026-11-05. Each page shows its own update date, and every price carries the date it was seen. When a figure is older than a few weeks, assume it moved: handheld prices rose several times in 2026 on reported memory costs.
Where to start
If you have not picked a handheld, start with the handheld finder. If you already know the console you want to play, open the emulation chart and read the chip guide. If you have a handheld in a box, go to the setup guide.
