Which chip is faster?

The Odin 3 uses a Qualcomm Dragonwing Q8 with eight Oryon cores and an Adreno 830. The Pocket 6 uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Our chip guide puts the Q8 in the flagship tier and the 8 Gen 2 in the high tier. The tiers are an editorial grouping built on sourced relative performance, not a benchmark we ran.

One correction is worth knowing: Android Authority reported on 2026-04-09 that AYN changed its Odin 3 marketing from Snapdragon 8 Elite to Dragonwing Q8, a variant without cellular connectivity. If you see "Snapdragon 8 Elite" on older listings, the chip is the one in the table.

Batocera's handheld guide says the 8 Gen 2 handles the 6th generation and some lower-end 7th generation consoles. That covers PS2, GameCube, Dreamcast and PSP with room to spare. For the harder end, such as Switch, see the PS2 and GameCube guides.

Do both have emulation ratings?

Only partly. The Pocket 6 has ratings from Held Games for two systems: GameCube/Wii and PS2 are both "good". The Odin 3 has no rating in our data. That is a gap in the sources, not a verdict. The emulation chart shows the blanks as unknown.

Screen, battery and weight

Price: what the Odin 3 costs

The Pocket 6 launched in January 2026 at $229 to $249 (Held Games). Held Games now lists $249, with a header showing $244 and $279 street prices. The extra cost was reported as linked to memory prices, which the sources do not confirm.

The Odin 3 base model (8 GB / 128 GB) has this price after a July 2026 increase of $10, reported by Notebookcheck: from $349 (Notebookcheck report: Base 8/128 after July 2026 hike, Nov 5, 2026). The Pro (12/256) and Max (16/512) versions are listed at $449 and $499. The gap to the Pocket 6 is about $100 for the base model, and it grows with the memory you add. The Odin 3 Portal, a separate model, is listed from from $419 (Retro Dodo: retail Base 12/128, Nov 5, 2026).

Official stores for both brands blocked our price checks, so these are third-party figures dated 2026-11-05. Prices at both makers rose more than once in the last year, so check the store before you order.

Storage and memory options

The Pocket 6 is listed with 128 GB or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 plus a microSD slot. The Odin 3 lists 128 GB UFS 3.1 on the base model, with the Pro at 256 GB and the Max at 512 GB, and RAM rising with each tier. Both are Android handhelds, so check our Linux or Android guide if you are unsure what that means for day-to-day use.

Who should buy which

Which one to buy

  • Pocket 6 if you want the best value for PS2 and GameCube: lower price, lighter body, 120 Hz AMOLED, and the only one of the two with a sourced emulation rating.
  • Odin 3 if you want the most headroom: the fastest chip, a bigger screen, 8000 mAh and more memory options, and you accept the 390 g weight and the higher price.
  • If your budget is under $250, look at the Retroid Pocket 5 or the Anbernic RG557 instead.
